Biography

Jordan Bein grew up in the slums of South Ado, where kindness was rarely rewarded and weakness was routinely exploited. Although naturally friendly and hopeful, years of being attacked, robbed, rejected, and disrespected gradually stripped away his faith in people. Tired of being treated as though he did not matter, Jordan abandoned the agreeable disposition that had made him an easy target and began demanding the respect he believed he deserved.

Jordan found an outlet for his anger through pool, darts, archery, and marksmanship. His natural mathematical ability allowed him to calculate angles and trajectories with extraordinary accuracy. Unbeaten at pool and highly successful in shooting and archery tournaments, he earned trophies, Kenai, and the confidence that had been denied to him throughout his youth. That confidence eventually hardened into aggression, revenge, and an increasing hunger for power.

After turning to crime and violence, Jordan was imprisoned and forced to labor in the Ziothide crystal mines. He survived years of brutal treatment and became a formidable pit fighter by studying body mechanics and reading the positions of an opponent’s feet, hips, and shoulders before they attacked. His abilities eventually attracted the attention of corrupt guards connected to powerful employers outside the prison. In exchange for his freedom, Jordan entered their service and discovered that he was exceptionally suited to bounty hunting and contract work.

During a particularly violent assignment, Jordan completed his mission despite suffering multiple gunshot wounds and catastrophic damage to his left arm. The arm was amputated at North Ado Hospital. After leaving the hospital, Jordan sought the help of Tomeus, a former NanTek robotics engineer who fitted him with an experimental prosthetic composed entirely of nanomachines and control units hardwired into his CAT.

Operating professionally under the name Bane, Jordan became a feared bounty hunter whose services were available to anyone capable of meeting his price. He later accepted a position beneath Ry’Jhim within the Northern Empire and underwent the process necessary to become an Elite. Although officially classified as one of Ry’Jhim’s specialized soldiers, Jordan continues to regard himself as a gun for hire rather than a conventional military operative.

Physical Appearance

Jordan is a bald, powerfully built man with a hardened expression and an intimidating physical presence. He commonly dresses in dark clothing, heavy boots, and a long black coat with a dark-red interior. A cigar is rarely far from his mouth, even during confrontations or active gunfights.

His left arm is a sophisticated NanTek prosthetic constructed from interconnected nanomachines, articulated armor segments, and internal control systems. Blue energy can be seen traveling through portions of the arm when its systems activate or its nanomachines begin reconstructing themselves.

When Jordan deploys his BEA, his organic body is enclosed within a specialized dark-maroon, black, and muted-gold variation of the armor. His helmet contains an integrated cyan targeting optic designed for tracking and target acquisition. Because his left arm is already artificial, it is not covered by the Bionic Epidermal Armor and remains mechanically exposed.

Identity

Jordan’s personal transformation began long before he became physically augmented. Jordan Bein was once a decent man attempting to survive an unforgiving environment. Bane emerged after repeated humiliation, imprisonment, violence, and the realization that fear earned him the consideration kindness never had.

The name Bane represents Jordan’s professional identity as a bounty hunter and enforcer. He is known for completing difficult assignments, capturing heavily protected marks, and ensuring that employers honor the terms of their agreements.

Jordan does not consider himself a traditional soldier. Even after becoming an Elite, he views combat as business and allegiance as a contractual arrangement. Ry’Jhim is his current commander because Jordan has chosen to work for him, not because Jordan feels any inherent loyalty toward governments, empires, or military institutions.

Organizational Role

Jordan serves beneath Ry’Jhim as an Elite, one of a specialized group of weaponized BEA operatives unified through the H.I.V.E. network. Each Elite possesses an individual BEA Unit derived from the capabilities and architecture of Ry’Jhim’s Alpha Unit.

Within the Elites, Jordan functions as a heavily armed hunter, bounty operative, and target apprehension specialist. His experience in criminal networks, firearms, predictive combat, and paid contract work makes him particularly effective against targets who hide behind hired protection or operate outside conventional military channels.

Jordan’s position beneath Ry’Jhim does not erase his mercenary nature. Ry’Jhim is effectively Jordan’s current patron and commanding employer. While operating as an Elite, Jordan follows Ry’Jhim’s command and coordinates with the other Units through the H.I.V.E., but his loyalty remains transactional rather than patriotic. He works for the Northern Empire because he has chosen its offer over those of competing employers.

BEA Unit

Jordan possesses EU06X – Unit006 – BFG, his individually designated BEA Unit.

Unit006 is equipped with a single ionic BFGx00, an enormous heavy weapon reflected in the Unit’s deliberately blunt BFG designation: “Big F’n Gun.” The BFGx00 is the Unit’s dedicated primary weapon and is separate from the modular weapons generated by Jordan’s cybernetic arm.

Like the equipment of the other Elites, Unit006 derives its core abilities from Ry’Jhim’s Alpha Unit and connects Jordan to the H.I.V.E. network. The Unit can also interface with the nanomachines in his left arm, allowing his independent NanTek prosthetic and his BEA systems to function together during combat.

NanTek Cybernetic Arm

Jordan’s left arm is an experimental NanTek prototype installed by Tomeus after his original arm was amputated. Rather than functioning as a fixed mechanical limb, the prosthetic consists of nanomachines and control systems hardwired into Jordan’s CAT.

This direct connection allows Jordan to control the arm through thought. Its nanomachines can disassemble, reposition, and reconstruct themselves into different weapons depending upon his immediate needs. Known configurations include:

Thaz-9 Pistols: Jordan traditionally carries two chrome-plated black Thaz-9 handguns. Each weapon contains an integrated suppressor, is balanced to reduce muzzle climb, and fires three rounds with every squeeze of its hair-light trigger. Jordan refers to the pistols as his two favorite ladies.

NanTek Prosthetic: A thought-controlled nanomachine arm capable of reconstructing itself into multiple offensive, defensive, and restraint-based configurations.

Personality

Jordan is hardened, confrontational, sarcastic, and intensely conscious of how others treat him. Much of his personality is rooted in a lifetime of feeling rejected, ignored, and disrespected. He refuses to be treated as insignificant and responds aggressively to anyone attempting to humiliate, exploit, or cheat him.

Despite his intimidating behavior, Jordan is not merely a violent brute. He is highly observant, mathematically gifted, and capable of analyzing movement almost instinctively. He approaches gunfights and physical confrontations through angles, timing, position, and prediction.

Jordan enjoys danger, weaponry, and the feeling of control provided by overwhelming firepower. He maintains a dark sense of humor during combat and frequently taunts opponents even while badly outnumbered. His habit of lighting a cigar before or after a confrontation reflects his confidence and theatrical composure.

His loyalty is transactional, but he takes agreements seriously. Jordan expects to receive exactly what he was promised and will immediately confront an employer who attempts to reduce his payment. He is willing to work beneath Ry’Jhim, but he does so as a compensated professional rather than a devoted servant of the Northern Empire.

Imprisonment and Rise of Bane

Jordan’s imprisonment became the defining transition between his life as a South Ado criminal and his career as Bane. Prisoners were confined in cages without bathrooms or showers, blasted with freezing water during daily cleanings, and forced to labor for hours in the Ziothide crystal mines.

Food was dumped into a shared trough, forcing hundreds of inmates to fight for the opportunity to eat. Guards abused prisoners, tortured them for information, and organized armed pit fights under false promises of freedom.

Jordan survived by becoming more dangerous than the environment around him. The pit fights refined his understanding of body mechanics and taught him to identify an attack before it was fully committed. His survival and success attracted guards who secretly worked for powerful outside interests. Those connections secured his release and introduced him to the paid violence that would eventually define Bane.

Role in the BEA Universe

Jordan is a principal character within the Augmented series and one of the Northern Empire’s Elites. His story connects the criminal underworld, private bounty networks, NanTek augmentation, the Northern Empire, and the larger BEA program.

Unlike the other portions of his body, Jordan’s left arm was augmented before he received his BEA Unit. It remains a separate technological system that can nevertheless interface with Unit006 and the H.I.V.E. This makes Jordan an augmented fighter even without his armor and gives him two complementary weapons platforms: his adaptable NanTek arm and the immense ionic BFGx00 belonging to his personal BEA Unit.
